Family Growing Thanks to Loan Program

LCMS rostered church worker Kristin Bowland and her husband Ryan, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., had used LCEF for a home loan in the past, but were thrilled when they got to use LCEF for a home equity loan to adopt their first child, Caleb.

“We applied with an agency in Georgia at the end of January 2008 and we got the call to go get our son on May 12, 2008,” Kristin, a teacher at Bethlehem Lutheran School, said. “He was my Mother's Day surprise.”

The process to adopt went much faster than expected, just about six months, and Kristin said they had little notice of their son’s arrival. That meant they also had to quickly arrange for payment of the costs of the adoption. LCEF was able to meet their tight deadline.

“The experience was great, because they worked with us and made everything happen as quickly as possible,” Kristin said. “We will and have recommended [LCEF] to other friends who are in the ministry.”
