Despite the challenges that stem from conducting a construction project while continuing to operate a church, preschool, and elementary school, as well as building during tough economic times, members of Our Father Lutheran Church, Centennial, Colo. have responded with positive attitudes and an eagerness to serve.

The church is getting a facelift that will expand its sanctuary, and add classrooms, larger narthex, and prayer chapel for small services and pastoral care. Rev. Donald Hinchey said members are excited about being able to meet the community needs with more space and to reach younger people.

Dedication services in August will include recruiting for the congregation’s “35 ‘servant events,’ one for each of our 35 years of ministry,” Hinchey said.

Our Father’s congregation used LCEF’s demographics and loan services. “The demographic survey was of great help to us in our planning. It’s a fine tool,” said Hinchey.

Gifts made to LCEF’s General Fund help keep the costs low for congregations wishing to use the services such as demographics, as well as the interest rates for loans to ministries and rostered church workers.
